Connecting for Children and Families hosted their 6th Annual “Make Tracks for Kids” 5K race on Saturday, June 4th. This year’s theme was “Superheroes for Future Heroes”. There was many masked marvels including Batman with his Bat-Bike! The morning started with the children’s event, a 1K Fun Run to kick off the event. The kids showed their spirit and energy by making their way around the 1K course. As the kids finished, the rest of the runners began to line up for the start of the 5K. The course went around the Bryant College campus and would make a complete circuit by the end. Many teams and individuals participated in the event including parents, co-workers and lots of couples. Many mothers ran while pushing strollers uphill and eventually across the finish line during the summer heat.

Nick Bernfeld of Southern New England Computer Services won two metals, one in his age group and another for his gender. The “Top Team Collector” this year was Jenny-Claire Belisle. Together, Connecting for Children and Families was able to raise thousands of dollars for their programs. Some of the staff even started training just to beat their times last year. It has brought about a healthy competition that we can all participate in. Honestly, it’s all in good spirits because the real winners are the kids.”
